Jamestown, North Dakota’s Buff City Brawlers will have their work cut out for them competing in their inaugural season in the WFTDA, next year. Insofar as branding goes, however, in my not-so humble opinion, their only competition will be from South Florida’s own Jupiter Jammers.

Break a leg, ladies… and please make it of those on the other teams!

Jupiter Jammers Mascot/Logo for Roller Derby Team

While it remains to be seen if the Jupiter Jammers will be a competitive force in the WFTDA in their inaugural season, their logo most certainly will be!

If you’re a Derby fan, a resident of Jupiter, Florida (Grandpa Bob, I’m talking to you!), or just a fan of my work, I fully expect you to buy lots of swag from them featuring this piece and sport it proudly & loudly at their future events.

Notes to Bean…

I’ve begun creating a comic strip series of observation, advice and inspiration in celebration and contemplation of the little bun in my wife’s oven. I’m planning to have a few dozen of them by the time my Bean is born. Give a look, leave a note of your own to the little guy if you’d like, share it with any parents-to-be you might know of.

I recently received a request from someone who’d found my previous termite illo, via a google search that landed her here, to license the image for their own needs.
Unfortunately it was created under a work-for-hire agreement, and I couldn’t just make a few bucks off of my previous efforts. Bummer. Back to the well I go… to revisit the concept with a new illustration, as I’m retaining ownership and just allowing limited usage for the new client, this time it’s mine, all mine!
So, if by chance, you’ve found this entry by a google search yourself, and want to use this piece for your business needs, too, give me a shout, maybe we can come to some sort of an agreement.

I’m with…

It’s an established fact that Conan O’Brien is a preferable talk show host to Jay Leno (one that apparently NBC execs are unaware of). After seeing literally hundreds of my fb friends sign up for the “I’m with COCO” club, it occurred to me that virtually ANY Coco would make a more compelling host than the whiny talking chin.
So, given that I have this moderately funny parody idea and nowhere to put it… I’m experimenting with a self-distribution model that also uses the whole grass-roots social media campaign. If it gives you a chuckle, link up to it, and pass it along to your friends. Maybe enough of them will order a print to make this experiment a success.
